Arvon Road Community Garden, nature’s first London corner shop, offering free edible herbs and soft fruit to curious and discerning passers-by. Raspberries, blackberries, plums and black currants seasonally present their temptingly sweet fruit beyond the railings.

ARCG is a calm space for local people to get together to mindfully manage and grow the garden and community. The Friends of ARCG aim to reassert the plot as an attractive and sustainable garden with edible herbs, soft fruits and plants which support the ecology of pollinating insects.

Members of ARCG meet on the last Sunday of the month during the growing season to plant, weed and harvest. To become a member, email us at:  arvonroadcommunitygarden@gmail.com

This community garden is generously supported by local Councillors Julie Horten, Terry Stacy and John Gilbert, and Islington Council’s Regeneration and Park Manager, Bhupesh Thapa. The Friends of Arvon Road Community Garden are ever grateful for their encouragement and support.

Alys Fowler quote on “local love”:

“Looking after your surroundings is a pleasing responsibility and brings all sorts of rewards with it. Some are obvious - you eat them - but others will only become apparent when you stand back a little.”
